How does superannuation fit into your financial picture?

Superannuation is money saved in Australia's retirement system. For a broad net worth snapshot, a recorded super balance may be included as an asset; access to it follows separate rules.

Put it into context

Use a recent fund statement for the balance and date. Keep the fund name, account reference stored safely, and relevant beneficiary-nomination information identifiable without mistaking the app entry for the fund's formal record. For a household view, avoid counting one balance twice. Financial Portfolio can record super as an asset, but it does not connect every super fund, recommend investments or establish death-benefit entitlements. ASIC Moneysmart explains how super works.

Should super be included in my net worth?

It is commonly included in a broad asset snapshot, but state the calculation scope and use a current statement.

Can Financial Portfolio change my super beneficiaries?

No. Review nominations directly with the fund.
