Put it into context

An Australian household recording A$900,000 of assets and A$320,000 of debts has an estimated net worth of A$580,000. The calculation does not show what the household could spend today or receive after selling assets. Use dates and a consistent household or individual scope. A common mistake is entering a home's full value, subtracting its mortgage, then adding the home's equity as another asset. ASIC Moneysmart's calculator explains the same core calculation.

How do I calculate net worth in Australia?

Add assets, subtract liabilities and check that each item is counted once. Use the free net worth calculator for a snapshot.

Does net worth include super?

Superannuation is commonly included in a broad wealth snapshot, using a recent statement. Access to super is governed separately.
